Welcome Back, Gates Greats — The Site is Back and Better Than Ever

It’s hard to believe that USS Thomas S. Gates (CG-51) was commissioned 39 years ago this August. When we first launched tsg51.org back in 2017 to mark her 30th anniversary, the goal was simple — give the crew a place to reconnect, share memories, and keep the spirit of the Gates alive. That goal hasn’t changed, but the site has gotten a serious upgrade.

We’ve rebuilt tsg51.org from the ground up with a fresh look, better navigation, and new features including a Crew Registration page where shipmates (and families) can check in, share their contact information, and let us know about reunion interest. This isn’t solely for those who served the Thomas S Gates, but for their families too. For those who have lost a shipmate, know that their memory is honored here. Please reach out and share your stories and photos. They belong here too.

For those already connected through our Facebook group, you may have seen details about an exciting opportunity; some of your shipmates have organized a cruise for Gates crew and their families. If you’re a Facebook group member, check out the details here and get your name in early.

We’re also looking to build out a photo gallery and would love contributions from the crew. Cruise book photos, deployment shots, port visit memories — if you’ve got them, we want to share them. Send anything you’d like posted to webmaster@tsg51.org or hold our for our Photo Album upload capability.

This site belongs to every man and woman who ever stood watch aboard CG-51. Help us make it worthy of the ship and the crew.

Fair winds and following seas, Shipmates.
